Taking Fish for a Walk

My son told him he wanted to take his fish for a walk. I must have looked confused because he said, "Not in the water, okay?"

Star Wars and Wine

Remember when I said I was surrounded?

My husband cleaned up dinner the other night. He couldn't find the cork for the wine bottle. So he improvised. And I found this the next morning.

What is that, you may be thinking?

It's a Storm Trooper Cookie Cutter.

Girlie-isms

~

Girlie decided to test my love for her... "Do you love me when I'm naughty?"

Me: "Yes, I love you."

Girlie: "Do you love me when I'm sleeping?"

Me: "Yes, I love you."

And on and on... do you love me when I'm awake? When I'm eating? When I'm playing? When I'm climbing trees? When I am taking a bath? When I'm coloring? ... Twenty minutes of "Do You Love Me?" questions.

My answer was always the same, "Yes, I love you."

Finally, she said, "Momma, that is a lot of love in your heart!"

Me: "Yes, it is, sweet pea."

Girlie: "I don't think your boobs are big enough to hold your heart."

~
Finding out that I was going to the doctor, she asked, "Is it because you are going to have a boy baby?"

Me: "Uh, I hope not."

Girlie: "You should ask the doctor for one."

~
Talking to her teacher: "Why did your parents decide to name you Mrs. O?"

~
After sitting quietly for 10 minutes, she suddenly burst out laughing. "CrankyPANTS!" she shrieked at the top of her lungs.

I don't know what was going on in that head of hers... I just know that I wish we weren't at church at the time.

~
After getting sick the other day, I told her it was okay, because everyone gets sick sometimes. "Even you?" she asked.

"Yup, I got sick when you were in my tummy!" I told her.

Girlie nodded somberly. "I mememember that. It wasn't fun then either."

Um, We Need to Work on This...

I was quizzing the kids on pertinent information... you know, what to tell the police when they get separated from me at the store. Or Disneyland. Or the park. Or our house.

Girlie was knocking the questions out the park.

What number do you call if there is an emergency? What is your name? What is your last name? What is Mommy's name? What is Daddy's name? Where do we live?

No problem - she handled all of the questions, even the curveball I threw her - What is our house number?

Then I started on Boyo.

"What's your name?"

Boyo: "I no know."

"What's Daddy's name?"

Boyo: "Daddy."

"No, that is what you call him. What's his real name?"

Boyo: "Father."

"Where do we live?"

Boyo: "Here."

"No, what is the name of where we live?"

Boyo: "House."

Maybe I should just buy him one of those kid leashes....

Star Wars

My son and daughter share my husband's love of Star Wars. My husband has a pop up Star Wars book that Boyo loves to look at with him.

And if you ask Girlie who her favorite princess is, she will gleefully shout out "Leia!"

But what made my husband really burst with pride? Girlie's synopsis of the entire saga.

She pointed to a picture of Darth Vader and explained it to me (since I don't "get" Star Wars): "Momma, this is Darth Vader. He is not a bad guy, but he makes bad choices when he listens to the Memperor. But when he listens to his son, he makes good choices and saves the day! The End."

I'm surrounded.

Batman

I got a horrible night's sleep last night.

Something kept poking me.

In the morning, I found him.

I had been sleeping with Batman.

Sadly, not this one.

This one.

Date Night

My husband and I date other people... our kids.

Once or twice a month, each child gets alone time with Mommy or Daddy.

Last week, it was Boyo's turn. Since every other sentence out of his mouth was "I no want you, Mommy!" or "Go away Mommy!" I decided we needed to spend some time alone together.

I took him to go see Puss in Boots. He was very excited to eat MnMs.

As the lights dimmed, he told me, "No worry Mommy. I make you safe." I melted into Momma-Goo on the spot.

And then he narrated every scene. "Lookit Mommy! I see the kitty! Lookit the Kitty! Its cute! Lookit, I see the sword! I want the sword! Lookit Mommy! What's the kitty doing? Why Mommy? Why it doing that?" and so on... at the top of his lungs. I alternated between laughing and shushing him.

And then, halfway through the movie, he climbed up on my lap, wrapped his arms around me and gave me a big hug. "Tighter, Mom," he ordered me when I hugged him back. "I lob you."

Tears threatened to spill over as I hugged him back tighter. When he decided the hug was over, he pushed my arms away, slid off my lap, walked over to the aisle and said, "I all done. Lets go home." Then he walked out of the theater, leaving me scrambling to catch up, with 30 minutes left of Puss.

Once I got him home, I noticed his face was covered in chocolate. And he told me I could take him on a date again where he "gets to eat lots of tons of mnms!"
