New Beds!

Recently, BabyGirlie went from this....
... to this....
...which means this happened (woohoo -- she's finally out of my room!)...

... and this happened.

We put her to bed about 10 times a night.  The other night my husband gave up and brought her into bed with us so "we" could get some sleep.  "We" did not sleep at all.  But BabyGirlie thought it was great fun -- and asked for cake.  Repeatedly.  At 2 in the morning.

Prayer Pail

I've mentioned before that we want to raise our children in the catholic faith.

I've also mentioned what a struggle that is sometimes.  Remember here?  And here?

Girlie and Boyo go to a Christian preschool and every night at dinner, they fight over who gets to say Grace and what prayer to say.

In the interest of fairness (and because I just don't have enough to do), I made a Prayer Pail.  I found it on Pinterest here. (Mine does not look nearly that nice).

And then BabyGirlie got involved.

I  found her on the dining room table, chewing on the prayer sticks.  I scooped her up and scolded her, telling her: "We don't eat prayers!"

Statement #2137 that I never thought I would say.

Mother's Day!

Tom asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day -- and he only blinked once when I said Disneyland.

Tom did promise me flowers....

Her very first autograph!

We did the Character Breakfast.

So, Fairy Godmother was a bit of a witch... I'm actually thinking of another word... Girlie asked me if it was the Stepmother in disguise.

He kept tickling Eeyore.  I think Eeyore is actually holding him down.

She had no idea what was going on.

Why don't I have more pictures of BabyGirlie?  Because whenever she saw a character she started screaming "NO NO NO!" and hitting whoever was holding her.

Yah!

Not listening to Mommy is exhausting.

Boyo and T-Ball

Dear Boyo -

Mommy is so sorry she missed your very first ever T-Ball game.

Daddy sent me pictures, so it was almost like I was there, but I wasn't.

I know the work I do today will make a better life for us tomorrow, but it still breaks my heart that I didn't get to see you take the field for the first time, or your first at bat, or the first time you ran the bases, or the first time you caught the ball and threw it to first (even though everyone else was telling you to throw it home).

I'm sorry that I didn't get to see your proud grin, the high five you gave your coach, or how you learned to spit just like a real ball player.

I know Daddy and your sisters were there cheering you on.  I know that you probably won't remember that I wasn't there in one or two or ten years. But I know, and it weighs on me.

I want you to know that I was there in spirit -- that I was cheering you on from my meeting when Daddy texted me to tell you that you got a home run.  That I was with you when you rounded the bases.  That I was bragging about you to my co-workers.  I know it's not the same though; I wish I could have been there.

I love you, Bug

Why I Ask Boyo Questions

Me: "Boyo, what number do you want on your T-ball Jersey?"
Boyo: "Uh, 100, I think."

~
Me: "Boyo, why did you put your marshmallows in your water?"
Boyo: "Because I like that!  WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" (screaming and running around the house).

~
Me: "Boyo, what is a good fire safety rule?"
Boyo: "No hitting."
Me: "That's a good rule in general, dude.  But what is a good rule to make sure we don't have fires?"
Boyo: "To be quiet cuz you have a headache."

~
Me: "How was school?"
Boyo: "Not good."
Me: "Uh oh.  What happened?"
Boyo: "The girls keep trying to marry me."
Me: "What do you do when they try to marry you?"
Boyo: "I run away, screaming WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

~
Me: "Dude, did you help yourself to a brownie?"
Boyo: "Uh, no."
Me: "Then why is their chocolate on your face?"
Boyo: "BabyGirlie made me eat it."
Me: "Dude, she's half your size."
Boyo: "Mommy, she's little but she's quick."

~
Me: "Boyo, do you know what Mom's job is?"
Boyo: "To make the baby stop crying.  And to wipe our butts."

~
Me:  "Boyo, why are you wearing your clothes backwards?"
Boyo: "So no one will see me coming."
